In secular companies, quality checks are undertaken to determine that the products they produce are up to standard. More so in the work of God, we must ensure that our service for God is of high quality and can meet God’s standard. In Exodus 39, the construction of all the different parts of the Tabernacle was completed and now brought before Moses. Upon carefully examining all the works, Moses concluded that everything had been done according to the Lord’s commands, and he blessed them.

1. Importance of God’s Work (Exod 39:32-41)

While the craftsmen constructed every part of the Tabernacle in the way prescribed by God, the Bible repeated all the different items, thus emphasising the importance of the work. The children of Israel had to remember that they were constructing the Tabernacle of God (which signified that the Lord was dwelling amongst His people) and that their work was a spiritual work. Thus, every detail was important, and they had to take this work seriously.

When we do God’s work, we too must see its importance as it is a spiritual work that we are doing.

2.  Command of God’s Work (Exod 39:42)

The people did according to all that the Lord had commanded. And when Moses inspected their work, there was no need to change anything. The standard used to measure the work must be according to what God had commanded.

Our service and ministry too must always be evaluated in light of what God has commanded, and not according to worldly quantitative or financial measures. We must do God’s work in God’s way.

3.  Accountability in God’s Work (Exod 39:43)

God can easily evaluate the people’s work Himself, but here, He chose to use Moses. Moses received His instructions, gave them to the people, and then examined their work. This speaks of accountability in God’s work.

As we serve God in church, we are accountable to our church leaders as the Lord has commanded. And they are accountable to God for our spiritual wellbeing.

When we do the work of God according to what He has commanded, we will be blessed.
