Pastoral Letter 13 Jul 2025 My dear readers, Answering Remaining Questions from Calvary Pandan Church Camp 2025 (2) Question 1: In the morning Pandan camp message on Wednesday, 18 Jun 2025, Rev Quek mentioned that it was not a coincidence that the shooting assassination of President Trump was just a few cm from his ears. If it is not a coincidence, this is part of God’s design. What then was God’s plan for this? Answer 1: For men and women like Donald Trump who are leaders of the world, especially leaders of powerful nations, their lives and decisions have a global impact, as we have seen thus far. It is more so in the last days. The Lord prophesied two thousand years ago that the final ruler of humanity, before the Millennial Kingdom of Christ begins, will have a global rule. He is the Antichrist or the Beast of Revelation 13:1-10. His capital city is called Babylon, not the Babylon of Iraq or the capital city of the Ancient Babylonian Empire. It is called Babylon after the origin of the name Babylon, which began in Genesis 11 when the first ecumenical and global empire started. God did not allow it to succeed then. He stopped it by confusing the languages of the descendants of Noah after the lineage of his three sons, Ham, Shem and Japheth. One morning, the descendants of Ham, Shem and Japheth woke up and could not understand one another; they could only understand within their respective lineages. The descendants of Ham and Japhath forgot the Hebrew language and were given new languages. They were forced to go their own way. The descendants of Shem remained in the Middle East region. The city they wanted to build as the first capital city of the first ecumenical movement was called Babel. Genesis 11:7-9: “7Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.” God did not permit this first ecumenical movement to succeed. The Antichrist will rule in Babylon for seven years before the Battle of Armageddon. During this period, the Antichrist will control the world’s military, economy, education, politics and the health systems. The advanced technological system with AI is already in place for him to control the world. Two thousand years ago, when God revealed that no one would be permitted to buy or sell without the mark of the beast, everyone who knew the Bible thought it was impossible. Today, the world has tasted the dark power of control over finances, even the finances of billionaires, where accounts could be frozen or taken away from anyone. This Antichrist will conquer the world in the name of peace. He is a brilliant man who will promise peace and prosperity to the world if they surrender their sovereignty and make him the world ruler. For this to happen, the present world has to be put into great global chaos, where peace and prosperity become the most sought-after commodities. The world must suffer the pain of fear and global catastrophe until it reaches the state of global desperation, where holding on to sovereignty becomes meaningless without peace and prosperity. Men and women like Donald Trump wield great power over the world’s economy and peace. Their decisions and thinking, impacting the world today, are of the fulfilment that will culminate in the appearance of the brilliant Antichrist. The kingdom of the Antichrist is made of iron and clay, as God has described in Daniel 2. Daniel 2:41-43: “41And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. 42And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. 43And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.” Iron was the material that described the mighty Roman Empire, which is present-day Europe. In other words, the Antichrist will rise from Europe, becoming a global power that rules the world. Today, Europe is united in currency but not military-wise. However, with what Donald Trump did by pulling America’s military out of Europe, i.e. NATO, the European Union is thinking of uniting its armies into one. “Russia’s war on Ukraine has been a wake-up call for many EU Member States’ defence budgets. Rising from €218 billion in 2021 to €326 billion in 2024, a further increase of at least €100 billion is projected by 2027. Despite these significant increases, most experts note that current geopolitical developments will require much more.” [Members’ Research Service, 7 May 2025] Global leaders of the last days will make decisions that will culminate in the appearance of the mighty Antichrist! Question 2: Deuteronomy 22:5 forbids women to wear men’s clothing, and vice versa. Should Christian men refrain from wearing accessories, apart from their wedding bands, such as cross necklaces, hair bands, bracelets, etc? Answer 2: Deuteronomy 22:5 says, “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” Deuteronomy 22:5 is part of the civil laws given by God so that Israel could bear a holy witness for Christ. The reason was to protect Israel from committing the sin of sodomy. This civil law was easy to obey as it applied to all who lived in Israel in OT times. But the church's witness is global, comprising many believers from different cultures. God did not give one dress code for all believers worldwide. Therefore, it is not about not wearing accessories per se. The principle is that men must dress like men, where their masculinity is not compromised, and the same is applied to women. We do so as believers for the glory of God and a holy testimony for Christ. Question 3: If we ought to be appropriately dressed for church camp messages, why are there people, especially those who serve as church and fellowship group leaders, attending Bible studies dressed in shorts and other inappropriate attire? Should we not approach God with the highest form of reverence, as shown in our dressing? Answer 3: Appropriate dressing is vital for the believer’s witness, for Christ’s name is at stake. All believers must not dress based on their personal comfort, for that is self-centred and not glorifying to God. God has redeemed them in Christ. They are no longer their own, whereby they can do whatever is right in their own eyes. Before salvation, they did what was right in their own eyes according to their desires. But after salvation, their thoughts and motives, including their words and actions, should all be under the jurisdiction and guidance of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Every believer must dress appropriately for every occasion, accordingly. For example, if the pastor is to share God’s Word at the beach with a fellowship group, it is inappropriate for him to wear a suit and tie. The context determines the proper attire. He should wear a suit and tie when conducting vigil services and funerals, even under the hot sun, regardless of personal comfort, because it is appropriate and part of our culture. He represents Christ in comforting the bereaved family members. Some think that as long as the heart is right with God, it does not matter how one dresses. Therefore, they do not dress appropriately, even for worship on the Lord’s Day. This reasoning is unbiblical. The outward demeanour of a person reflects the inner man. The believer is holy within because the Holy Spirit dwells within him. Therefore, his behaviour, including his dressing, must be holy too. Modesty is a good yardstick to guide every believer in their dressing. Question 4: Are there any consequences for a Christian couple or family if they don’t get their children baptised as infants? Answer 4: There is always a consequence for every decision made. The question is, what is the nature of the consequence? If a sinner refuses to receive Christ as his Lord and Saviour, the consequence is that when he dies in his sin, he will be cast into hell. In the case of a believer, when he disobeys the Word of God, the consequence is not the loss of his salvation but the loss of blessings and a holy witness. For example, a believer foolishly marries an unbeliever, and repents of his sin after realising he has sinned, being unequally yoked. He must remain married and bear the consequences of the sin that will surely come in an unequally yoked marriage. The consequences include attending church alone, struggles at home with how children ought to be brought up, how finances ought to be managed, to give tithes and offerings or not, etc. In the case of infant baptism, the blessings lost will be on the child and the parents bringing up the child. The child is considered holy in the eyes of God because of the believing parent. 1 Corinthians 7:14: “For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.” God desires every Christian parent to claim God’s promised blessing on the child at the child’s baptism. When parents fail to claim the promise, they go about their lives not realising their God-given duty to bring their children up in the fear and admonition of the Lord. They did not make the vow to do so before God! When they struggle to bring their children up, they cannot persevere with God-given strength to endure since they did not take the oath before God and God's people to be a godly example and bring them up to know Christ. These heartfelt spiritual experiences give Christian parents the inner strength to stay the course and cling to God's promises and assurance that if they bring their children up from the beginning of their lives, they will grow up and not depart from the faith.
